Full Body Massages

Massage has been a common practiced for healing for more than a thousand years. History shows that people in ancient time were using this therapy for soothing, calming, relaxing and of course healing. At present time, massage is still considered as a therapy that could speed up the healing and prevent illnesses. The word massage was originated from French that means friction or kneading. Arabic also called it 'massa' that means to touch and feel.

Full body massages are known to be very significant to individual's health and wellness. It involves manipulations of soft tissues in the body using hands through stroking, kneading, rubbing, and cupping to relieve pain, relax the muscle tension, stiffness or cramps, reduce stress and speed up circulation.

A full body massage begins with massaging upper and lower limbs, chest, abdomen, back, hips and ending with face and head. This process is practice in modern Physiology. All the strokes are towards the heart.

There are two classification of full body massages,  Modern Western massage and Oriental massage. The technique use of Western Massage is to facilitate the blood circulation and the lymphatic system to release muscle tension and joint stiffness. Swedish, Myofascial Release and connective tissue massage are types of Western massages.

Swedish massage use long strokes designed for good circulation and blood flow without overloading the heart. This type of massage also shorten the time of recovery from muscular strain. It eliminates metabolic wastes such as lactic acid, uric acids and more. Further, it calms the nervous system, stimulates the skin, soothes the nerves and reduces stress.

Myofascial Massage is commonly use for athletes and physically active individuals. It means trigger points in the fascia. Fascia is designed for connective tissues that surrounding the muscles, bones and joints. Trigger points are areas of muscles that are too painful such as muscle cramps and serious muscle and tendon tears and thus compromising the tissue. Myofascial is a therapy that alleviates pain or trigger points. It speed up the healing and prevent possible injuries during the sports events and practice.

Connective Tissue Massage also involves manipulation of fascia. This type of massage is designed to help relieve chronic tension, promote relaxation and improve posture.

Another classification of full body massage is the Oriental massage. Commonly believe in Oriental massage that illnesses are cause by the blockage of energy flow. Shiatsu and acupressure are the types of Oriental massage. These two types of massage stimulates the natural ability of the body to heal itself.

It has been said that shiatsu improved circulations, relieve pains and reduce stress. Also, it speed up the healing of stress-related conditions. It  restores the body to a balanced state. Acupuncture is said to relieve headaches, eyestrain, sinus problems, menstrual cramps, arthritis, muscle pains and tension due to stress.
