In another words, it will help the athlete to be physically and mentally prepared and to warm up the muscles for the strenuous activity that will take place and also to increase flexibility. This type of massage last from 15-20 minutes, shorter than the training massage and usually done in the competition site or the sporting place.

The third type of sports massage is called the post-event sports massage. It is normally given an hour or two after the event or performance. The purpose of this is to relieve the swelling due to micro-tears to the muscles, to stimulate blood flow so toxins can be removed and alleviate pain and soreness. This is not a type of massage that triggers point work but to aid the muscles to repair themselves. This massage can be done in only 30 minutes for the whole body and given to the place were the event takes place as pre-event massage.
